How Pemvidutide works
The GLP-1 component reduces appetite and the glucagon component is thought to increase energy expenditure and reduce liver fat. Trials have also looked at how much of the weight lost is fat versus lean mass.
What Pemvidutide is studied for
- Weight management
- Liver fat reduction
- Lean-mass preservation
Phase 2 trials reported weight loss of around 15% at 48 weeks at the highest dose, with reductions in liver fat. Larger trials are needed to confirm this.
Being studied for something is not proof that it works. Results in individuals vary.
