About Oxytocin dosing
Oxytocin is a nine-amino-acid hormone made in the hypothalamus. Beyond its clinical use in labor, it is studied for its role in social bonding, sexual response, and mood, which is why it appears in G1's Ares X pen with PT-141.
A 10 mg vial in 2 mL is 5,000 mcg per mL; a 100 mcg dose is 0.02 mL, or 2 units — small enough that many providers prefer a 3 mL reconstitution to make the draw 3 units.
Oxytocin is also given as a nasal spray or sublingual troche; those forms use different dosing and are not covered by this calculator. Follow the route and dose your G1 provider prescribed.
Why is my oxytocin draw so small?
Oxytocin doses are tiny relative to a 10 mg vial. Reconstituting with more water (3 mL instead of 1 mL) triples the volume per dose and makes it easier to measure accurately on an insulin syringe.
Is injectable oxytocin the same as nasal spray?
No. Nasal and sublingual oxytocin are dosed in IU and absorbed differently. This calculator is only for lyophilized vials reconstituted for subcutaneous injection.
Is oxytocin in a G1 pen?
Yes — the Ares X pen combines PT-141 and oxytocin in a prefilled click-dose format, so no reconstitution is needed.
